Setting the Stage for a Global Learning Transformation

Empowering Supply Chain Excellence Through a Scalable and Flexible Upskilling Program

A leading international energy provider, operating in more than 30 countries with an annual turnover exceeding €93 billion, launched a long-term initiative to elevate supply chain capabilities across its global organization. Recognizing the growing complexity of the field and the need for tailored, future-ready skills, the company aimed to establish a modern, flexible, and scalable learning j to drive professional growth across all levels—from junior to senior staff in both supply chain and procurement functions

Objective: Building a Continuous, High-Impact Learning Ecosystem

The goal of the initiative was to build a sustainable, company-wide upskilling program that would:

  • Close role-specific capability gaps with high-impact, relevant training content
  • Cater to different learning needs and styles through a modular and flexible delivery model
  • Provide continuous development opportunities without a defined end date
  • Integrate seamlessly into the company’s existing learning infrastructure
  • Empower internal trainers in their roles to support knowledge transfer internally
  • Maintain program relevance through continuous feedback and agile content updates

Methods: Fast Design, Flexible Delivery, and High-Reach Execution

The program began with a six-week remote discovery phase to define learning needs and co-create a relevant curriculum. Based on this, a structured program of 16 modules was launched, with a mix of delivery formats to maximize flexibility and engagement. While most sessions are virtual, select in-person modules—such as negotiation training and Train-the-Trainer sessions—create immersive learning moments where they matter most.

Training is delivered by senior experts and supported by an internal Train-the-Trainer track.

The format enables broad participation across the entire supply chain and procurement organization, from junior to senior roles. Each half-year cycle includes 32 training sessions, covering negotiation, RFP management, finance, communication, and more.

A continuous feedback loop is built into the program through regular update calls and post-session questionnaires. This ensures rapid adjustment of content and format to keep the training relevant, high-quality, and aligned with changing business needs.

Results: Scalable Impact with Strong Early Momentum

In its first six months, the program trained over 300 participants across functions and seniority levels. Feedback from early rounds has been overwhelmingly positive, with participants citing the high relevance of content, engaging facilitation, and the flexible format as major strengths.

With 32 sessions delivered every half year and no fixed end date, the initiative is designed for ongoing growth and adaptation. The combination of expert-led delivery, virtual accessibility, in-person depth, and internal trainer enablement has laid the foundation for a high-impact upskilling engine that drives lasting capability development across the organization.
